Situated in the beautiful Via Roma, in the centre of the town of Barga (one of the 100 most beautiful villages in Italy), we propose Villa Liberty, dating back to the early 1900s, with original furnishings of the period, and also earlier. The house was enlarged in 1939 and completely restored between 2002 and 2010, when the roof was redone. The restoration has maintained the original aspects and enhanced them, in particular the frescoes and the artistic floors of the period. There are elements that have remained unchanged over the decades, such as the main entrance hall with its furnishings and decorations still intact from the time of construction, the glass window, of the highest quality, which separates the entrance area from the living area, the hinged doors, with glass decorated in Art Nouveau style, with the with the initials of the first owner, Giovanni Fontana, who was shipwreck of the “Arandora Star” during the Second World War. All the rest of the stained glass is original stained glass from the period, embedded in the wooden structure. Worthy of mention and of considerable beauty is the “Sala delle Rondini”, one of the lounges with a frescoed ceiling. Very original is the bathroom in the sleeping area with original furnishings and a tub of the time, not walled up, supported by four feet. The house has two separate entrances and is on two floors, plus basement and attic. In the basement there are the garages, a tavern, the laundry and the service room. On the ground floor there are two kitchens, two dining rooms and the frescoed Rondini living room; a bathroom, boiler room and other service rooms. On the upper floor there are four bedrooms and a period bathroom. On the attic floor there are various rooms that lend themselves to various uses. In the garden there is a further building with kitchen, dining room and services. Having two separate entrances the house could also be divided into two separate units.
